Peter Elebash

Peter Elebash was born in Atlanta, Georgia and attended the Choate School and Yale University. After graduating from Yale in 1959, he served in the US Army Special Forces. His business career began in the early 1960s with a group of partners building small real estate projects and operating a series of small businesses.

In 1972, he led the sales and marketing effort at Bay Point, a 1200 acre residential resort community in Panama City, Florida on the Gulf Coast. Later, he joined the Kiawah Island Development in South Carolina, where he rose to the position of Director of Real Estate. In that position, he managed the real estate sales operation, and consulted with other members of the development team in land planning, architecture, building and financing. Approximately 450 real estate transactions per year were handled through his office, dealing with a high demographic audience purchasing second or third homes on the Carolina Coast.

In 1979, he founded the Elebash Company and joined the Palm Beach Polo and Country Club Development in Wellington, Florida. His responsibilities included real estate sales, as well as consulting on development and marketing plans.

In 1981 The Elebash Company was appointed sales and marketing director for Conyers Farm in Greenwich, Connecticut. A 1500 acre gated community in the back country of Greenwich, Conyers Farm includes a total of 100 home sites, all ten acres or more in size. The community is regarded as one of the premier residential communities in the eastern United States and is home to the Greenwich Polo Club. The Elebash Company continues to be active in the resale market within Conyers Farm (see October Farm in our properties listing)

In the 1980s, the Bear Island Paper Company in Ashland, Virginia became a client. Bear Island, a major manufacturer of newsprint, owned over 250,000 acres of timberland in 38 different counties in Virginia. The objective was to sell off higher value tracts and acquire land suitable only for the growth of pine trees. The program was highly successful and spanned a number of years.

As a consultant to the Trustee of the estate of Fox Lease Farm, located in Middleburg, Virginia, The Elebash Company planned subdivision possibilities and recommended innovative ways to sell off other portions of this property.

Peter moved to Millbrook in 1989. Since then, he has been active in Real Estate in New York, Connecticut and Florida.

After receiving his MBA in 2001, LeGrand moved back home to Charleston to manage the operations of Rivers Enterprises, Inc., a Charleston commercial real estate investment and development company. As Vice President and Project Manager, his first assignment involved the marketing, leasing, and management of an $18 million mixed use project on Charleston's waterfront that included the operational management of the IMAX Theatre. After achieving full occupancy on the project that included over 77,000 square feet of office, retail, restaurants, entertainment space, and a commercial dock, LeGrand assumed management responsibility for all of Rivers Enterprises' buildings, which included over 250,000 square feet of office and retail space throughout the Charleston area as well as a private club development in Cashiers, North Carolina.

In January of 2004, LeGrand joined I'On Group as Chief Operations Officer and became responsible for all project operations, company general management, and new business development for I'On Group. I'On is a highly acclaimed neighborhood in Mount Pleasant, SC comprised of 762 homes and 30,000 square feet of commercial space on 243 acres. The community is well regarded nationally and internationally for representing the best of New Urbanist concepts and attention to architectural detail.

LeGrand negotiated the purchase and rezoning of the John C. Calhoun Homes site in North Charleston, which is now known as Mixson Avenue, a 950 unit mixed use neighborhood that began construction in 2007. Other new projects launched under LeGrand's management at I'On Group include the purchase of the Woodlands Resort in Summersville, South Carolina, the contract for purchase of an infill development parcel from Snee Farm Country Club in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, and an assemblage of parcels in Cashiers, North Carolina. The capitalization of these projects involved structuring over $28 million in private equity partnerships in addition to development loans. LeGrand is well versed in the zoning and development processes for each of the municipalities in the Charleston region.

LeGrand and his wife, Allison, have two children: Hudson(9) and Chloe(7). LeGrand is a member of the Board of Directors of the Spoleto Festival, Operation Home, the Advisory Board of the Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art, and the Facilities Committee of Crisis Ministries. He and Allison are also active supporters of the Children's Museum of the Lowcountry, Porter Gaud School, Ashley HAll School, and the Church of the Holy Cross on Sullivan's Island, South Carolina, where LeGrand is a member of the Vestry.
